The Earth Has Cancer

Maybe I can go organic with this.

Maybe I can go organic with this.

I saw an 80s movie in which a down and out wanderer (played by wrestling legend, Mr. Rowdy Roddy Piper) finds a pair of sunglasses which allows him to see things as they are. I’ve posted the clip right. “They Live” wasn’t John Carpenter’s greatest film of all time, but when I saw this scene, I thought, “That’s it! This filmmaker has something there.”

When we look at the earth from above, we can see great scabs of human cities clustered along the coastlines of most continents. That’s us. Our consumptive desire. Wants turned into needs because of advertising and trade. We’re cheeky, trading little monkeys. The specifics of language are thought to have been borne of farming and trade. But is trade all we do?

Look into the homes of older people. Over 65ers are comfortable with a chair, a blanket and a TV. I don’t know why the TV, but I know what they are thinking as tehy watch it.

“I don’t need any of that shit.”
